Start with a purpose, not a perfect home
Decluttering for listing photos is different from reorganizing every possession. The immediate goal is to make the home easy to understand in photographs: reveal room boundaries, usable surfaces, natural light, permanent features, and safe walking paths.
- Choose one room and prepare keep, relocate, donate, recycle, and discard containers.
- Remove rubbish and obvious items that belong elsewhere before making harder decisions.
- Clear floors and large surfaces, then work on shelves, counters, and small visual distractions.

Use the camera as a final decluttering check
Take one wide image from the doorway or intended listing angle. Check the edges of the frame, reflective surfaces, open storage, cables, labels, papers, floor corners, and objects that visually merge with permanent features. Correct the physical room and retake the photograph whenever practical.
When photo cleanup is an appropriate fallback
If a useful existing photograph still contains temporary movable clutter and the room cannot be photographed again, a cleanup preview may help. Keep the original, confirm you have the right to edit the image, and reject any result that changes layout, finishes, fixtures, damage, safety conditions, or another material property fact.
